How to Optimize Lead-Acid Battery Charging During Monsoon Seasons?

In monsoon climates, solar systems must be carefully managed to prevent lead-acid battery failure. Since PV input is inconsistent, charge controllers must be configured correctly.

PWM controllers are less efficient in low light, while MPPT types perform better but still require proper voltage settings. Undercharging is common, but overcharging (when sudden sunlight appears) can also damage batteries by causing excessive gassing.

Optimization Tips:

  • Use MPPT charge controllers for better low-light efficiency.
  • Adjust charging voltages based on temperature (if supported).
  • Consider hybrid charging (solar + grid/generator) during prolonged rain.
